1The main helper of every housewife is, of course, the stove, which is used to prepare hot dishes and without which it is impossible to imagine a modern kitchen.

Depending on the type of energy used for heating, stoves are divided into gas and electric (including induction).

Less common are combination cookers, in which there are both gas and electric burners or an oven.

Brief information

Gas stoves appeared in the USSR in the 50s of the last century and quickly became popular.

As a rule, a gas stove has from 1 to 6 burners and an oven, although there are stoves without an oven. Plate body is usually made of stainless or alloy steel with enamel coating.

The most popular among gas stoves are 2 and 4 hotplates equipped with a gas oven.

Principle of operation

Cooking on such a stove is carried out on an open fire, the fuel for which serves:

  • or natural gas supplied through the city gas network;
  • or liquefied gas from cylinders.

Adjusting the heating level (flame force) is carried out manually using the rotary knobs on the front or top panel of the stove. You can light a fire either manually: with matches, lighters, an open flame, etc., or using the electric ignition built into the stove (if any).

Since 2007, all Russian gas stoves must have control of emergency extinguishing of the flame, that is, if, for example, liquid spills on a fire, if the gas supply to this burner is automatically turned off.

  • require professional installation exclusively by gas company specialists;
  • it is more difficult to maintain the desired temperature, for example, in an oven (achieved by the method of "selecting" an appropriate level of gas supply);
  • the appearance of soot and greasy deposits on the stove and kitchen furniture;
  • limited functionality;
  • a ban on the gasification of multi-storey buildings above 10 floors (effective from the mid-1970s).

How to choose and what to pay attention to?

The choice of any equipment for the home implies the determination of possible characteristics and their division into necessary and desired.

When choosing a plate, you should analyze such moments as:

  • overall dimensions suitable for the size of the kitchen;
  • case and work surface material (stainless steel, enamel, tempered glass, etc.);
  • design options (colors, order and shape of the location of the burners);
  • number and size of burners, based on the planned load;
  • gas control, electric ignition / auto ignition on the stove and in the oven;
  • the volume and functionality of the cabinet: the presence of a grill, rotisserie, backlight, convection, etc .;
  • grating material: most of the plates are equipped with cast-iron gratings (the service life is from 15 years), but enameled steel gratings are also found (service life is about 5 years);
  • additional functions: child protection, convenient guides for baking sheets, self-cleaning, the presence of lights and locks, the presence of an additional drawer, etc.
