How to choose the best hand blender for home + owner reviews

3

A hand blender is a must in the kitchen. In anticipation of the summer period, people often include smoothies or smoothies, cream soups and light meals in their diets, and you need a blender to cook them.

The choice of equipment depends on many factors, the article considers the best blenders for home use.

Often, people mistakenly assume that a blender is a food processor for various kinds of cooking tasks.

There are models with more extensive functionality, but basically, a blender is a small unit for grinding, shaking, preparing soft products.

Why is it needed?

The blender is most often intended for grinding, this technique always includes built-in blades that grind the products. Such products may include meat, boiled vegetables, ice, nuts, berries or fruits.

A blender will turn meat into minced meat and mashed potatoes, but do not forget that a blender is not a substitute for a meat grinder, meat can get stuck in blades and ruin the equipment. To grind raw meat, it is better to look for a chopper or meat grinder.

Boiled meat is better for chopping in a blender. So, along with vegetables and broth, you get a hearty cream soup.

Principle of action

The technique crushes products using the built-in blades to the desired state. Steel blades can even cope with ice, if they are designed for this, and the unit itself has the right power.

The hand blender has a whisk in the kit, with which you can shake the eggs and cream for confectionery.

Its biggest advantage is mobility and compactness; you can grind boiled vegetables with broth right in the pan.

Give preference to a submersible or stationary blender, it is up to the consumer to decide. The decision depends on the frequency of use of the device in the kitchen, the more often the unit is used, the better it should be.

When choosing between a submersible and a stationary one, the goals of using a particular device should be considered. Both power and the number of blades depend on this.

The place for a blender in the kitchen is taken into account, if the kitchen is small, it is better to give preference to a submersible blender.

What options should I look for before buying?

If the choice fell on a submersible blender, you should ask the seller before buying or independently study the features of the technique before buying.

So there is a much greater chance of not losing money with the purchase, having bought the device that really helps in cooking, and does not add inconvenience to the cook.

Power

When choosing a device, attention should be paid to power, this is an important criterion for blenders. If the unit runs slowly, the chance of overheating is much higher than that of a device with high power.

Also, small power can not cope with solid products, or leave lumps in the texture. Companies also produce blenders with a power of 140 watts, but these are more suitable for making smoothies. If the power is at least 450 W, then the device will cope with most tasks, its failure is likely if the user poses an impossible task for the device.

If the chef needs to chop nuts, chop ice, make minced meat, then the power of the equipment should be 600-800 watts.

Number of speeds

In various models, from 1 to 30 speeds are built-in, the higher the speed, the better the blender grinds food. It is better to alternate speeds from the lowest to the highest, the texture of the product will depend on this.

Equipment with many speeds will be more useful to professional chefs, and a device with 5-8 speeds is suitable for home use.

Turbo mode in technology is the highest speed and is used at the final stage to get rid of lumps.

An additional pulse mode is useful for grinding harder products, thanks to pauses between grindings, the device does not overheat.

Nozzles

As standard, there is an immersion handle with a knife, a bowl with a blade in the middle and a whisk for whipping. In addition to conventional nozzles, certain models have a variety of nozzles for more complex cooking tasks.

  • submersible handle - designed to grind and mix soft foods, preparing mashed soups and cocktails. Usually has two blades, but there are models with a large number of nozzles;
  • chopper bowl - standardly has one blade on the bottom for chopping nuts, chopping ice, making minced meat or chopping vegetables. Suitable for frozen foods if it has high power;
  • whisk - mixing and shaking, preparing creams, whipped cream or whites for desserts, you can mix thick dough if you have the right nozzle. For the preparation of pancake dough, a regular whisk is suitable;
  • mill - grinds hard foods such as coffee beans, spices, garlic and sugar. It is a small bowl with a knife on the bottom with a volume of 0.05-0.7 ml;
  • vacuum pump - allows you to preserve the freshness of products in food containers or bags, with its use the products are stored longer;
  • nozzle for mashed potatoes - instead of metal for a knife, plastic is used that does not turn potatoes into an adhesive mass, but evenly rubs it at low speed. Due to this, mashed potatoes are more airy;

Material

Nozzles for the immersion handle and the handle itself must be stainless steel. They are not damaged when cooking with hot products, and are more wear resistant.

Such pens are used in the cooking process, when the soup is still boiling, but it already needs to be turned into mashed potatoes. The handle body can be made of plastic, here users rely only on their taste.

Overheat protection system

It saves the equipment from unwanted damage, when the device overheats or overloads, the device turns off. The equipment must be allowed to cool and can be used again.

Type of food

If the place in the kitchen allows, and the outlet is in an accessible place, it is recommended to take the device with the type of power supply from the network.

The cord may interfere at first, but the wireless models are characterized by low power and a duration of about 30 minutes, after which the equipment is put on charge, which reaches about 3-4 hours, which is not always convenient for the user.

Bowl size

Bowls in the configuration are from 0.35 to 2.2 liters. When buying a small bowl, it is worth remembering that it is not suitable for chopping a large amount of food or a liter of soup.

Also in small bowls it is not so convenient to cook minced meat. It is better to choose the best option from 0.8 ml for a variety of tasks.

Which hand blender is best and why?

Users rely on ease of use and compactness in the kitchen, if you need to cook baby puree or cream soup. For such household issues, it is better to choose a blender with a small power, low noise effect.

In matters of nozzles, stainless steel blades are preferred, according to cooks, it is more wear-resistant and does not lend itself to damage. A large number of nozzles facilitates the work, but it is important to clarify what materials the nozzles are made of.

Affordable price is a good criterion for choosing, but if the device is not of high quality, it is better to pay a higher price. The choice of technology with a chopping bowl suits many, the capacity for whipping is insufficient for making soups and grinding vegetables.

    There are two blenders in my kitchen. One submersible without any bells and whistles, I use it daily. Another landline. I use it when I collect guests or the whole family as a whole, I have to cook a lot. Both Bosch blenders. I try to take this company. The quality suits the design and so that everything is already under one.
    If the opportunity is better, take two too. And then when the stationary set had to wash more. When you need to cook a cup of smoothies you don’t want to include a large one, you refuse healthy food. Or maybe I'm such a lazy guy? 😁

    I always cook different dishes at home and the REDMOND RHB-2942 blender has an indispensable assistant in this. He doesn’t know the weekend and has never let me down, but he grinds almost everything, not only vegetables but even meat and nuts. And the main thing is that it works quite quietly, does not create much noise and is quite compact.

    I have a Supra hand blender. In the reviews I read that it is rather weak, but I had nothing to compare with, since this is my first blender and everything suits me. Good helper in the kitchen. I mash the child and myself both vegetables and fruits. I make different cocktails. Grind as needed. Great machine at an affordable price.
